Notice of activities for eliminating hazardous substances

In EU, the directive (RoHS directive) on limiting the use of harmful substances in electric/electronic equipment (TV, washing machine, PC, copying machine, vending machine, etc.) was put into effect as from February 13, 2003. This directive sets forth that electric/electronic equipment to be put on the market as from July 1, 2006 shall not contain harmful substances, such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium compound, PBB and PBDE.

ULVAC group decided not to use any harmful substances in its products as from January 1, 2006 and has been actively working on the development of new techniques and the design/procurement of alternative products, except items that vendors cannot be cope with and no alternative products are available.

ULVAC group has set up gGreen Procurement Standardh to promote environment-friendly material procurement activities
